Sources and corrections
Where our information comes from, and how to tell us when something is wrong.
Where the information comes from
Guides are written from the published information of the responsible German authority, and each one links the specific bodies for its topic rather than a generic list. Our full directory is at the resources page (opens in a new tab).
How we handle values that change
Amounts and thresholds — benefit rates, contribution ceilings, the broadcasting contribution, blocked-account minimums, visa salary thresholds — are held centrally with a source and a verification date, rather than repeated across pages.
Where a value has not been verified against its source, we do not print it. The page explains the concept and links to the authority that publishes the current figure. That is deliberate: a stale number in a guide about money is a way of costing someone money.
Reporting an error
If you find a mistake, a broken link or something that has changed, please tell us. Include the page and, if you can, the official source that shows the correct position. We prioritise anything that could affect a decision about money, a visa or a deadline.
