For a single employee in tax class 1 earning 4.200 € gross per month, roughly 60–65 % arrives in your account. The share falls as income rises and improves in tax class 3.

Married couples can change combination once a year, and after marriage, separation, birth of a child or a change of employment. The change is made with the Finanzamt.

Only if you are registered as a member of a tax-collecting religious community. It is 8 % of your income tax in Bayern and Baden-Württemberg, 9 % elsewhere.
